"The Greenberg HSA has been very beneficial to our school.  Without their support and fund raising we would not have air conditioning in our classrooms.  You have no idea how hot the rooms were. It was hard to keep the students on target when it got real hot.  They also provided us with a wonderful new sound system and lockers for the 6th,7th and 8th graders.  The best part about the lockers are they are right outside their classrooms. This way they don't have to carry their things with them to every classroom.  They also provide each teacher with a free bus that they can use for a class trip.  If we need anything for our classrooms they are there to help us out.  I have been teaching for over 20 years and I have never had such a supportive HSA before.  Marsha and Amy were just wonderful HSA members.  Greenberg was very lucky to have them as part of our school family."

"I have been a teacher in the Philadelphia School District for eighteen years. During my career, I have had the opportunity to work in several different schools throughout the city. Three years ago, I came to Greenberg Elementary School in Northeast Philadelphia and was shocked to see how active the Home and School Association was here. I had never worked in a school where so many parents were so involved. The members of the board were always present each day and they ran our school store each morning. They were involved in planning special assembly programs that were truly beneficial to our students. They coordinated special fun and educational events for our children. They helped to pay for buses for our field trips. I could continue to list the many things that they have done for us and the numerous fundraisers they coordinated to raise money for our school, but to me that is only part of what made them wonderful. What stands out for me is the relationship that they have created between teachers, students, and parents. When you walk into Greenberg, it is obvious to everyone here that our mission is to have our children succeed academically. The environment is warm and inviting. We are truly a family here at Greenberg. Marsha Spak and Amy Papatolis have been instrumental in creating this dynamic in our school. They have made our Home and School Association a true partnership between the school and the parents. Their hard work and dedication is to be commended and the students at Greenberg are very lucky to have had them as leaders of our Home and School Association."

Testimonials

"As a second year Spanish teacher at Greenberg Elementary School in Philadelphia, I would like to take the time to thank the Home and School Association for the constant support of both my classroom, as well as our school community. Our HSA here at Greenberg has enabled us to make our dreams a reality for the children at our school. The availability, generosity, and positive attitude of the past and present home and school parents have made a variety of different experiences possible for our children. The resources and opportunities for enrichment provided by the HSA fundraisers would not be possible if it were not for the excellent organization and management of our HSA. Last year, the students of the middle school received new lockers (which were greatly needed) thanks to funds raised by the Home and School Association. Classrooms in our school are air- conditioned because of the HSA (which on those 100 degree days is greatly appreciated)! The supplies that I need for my classroom (and other classrooms in the school), which were unable to be purchased due to budget constraints, were purchased from funds raised by the HSA.  The gratitude felt by the teachers is heartfelt, and when people ask about my school, I am sure to comment on the HSA and how it has enabled us to become the type of school that strives for, and achieves excellence!

Muchas gracias HSA,
