Parents Involved
Our Mission
Our mission is to assist and guide parents in establishing parent organizations in order to maximize students’ educational experience through parental and community involvement.
Parents Involved is a non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The goal of Parents Involved is to help create and maintain a connection between parents, students, teachers, administrators and communities through the establishment and operation of successful parent organizations. Operating effective parent groups within schools will give parents the opportunity to get directly involved with their children’s education.
Our experience began at Joseph J. Greenberg Elementary School in Philadelphia, where we created a strong partnership with the teachers, parents and the community. We had remarkable results once this was in place and we began to see the tremendous impact that a well-run parent organization has on a school community.
Budgetary cuts have made it difficult, if not impossible, for schools to continue to provide many classroom supplies and programs. A productive parent organization, through fundraising, can make it possible to supplement classroom supplies, pay for buses for class trips, purchase books for school libraries and more. Activities funded by these parent groups, such as school dances, roller skating parties and other family centered activities can strengthen relationships within the community. Additionally, parents can be a resource for identifying, coordinating and even paying for essential programs, such as bully prevention, drug and alcohol prevention, stranger safety and other socially-relevant, child-centered presentations.
